श्रीदुर्गासप्तशती

दुर्गा - विजयी देवी (श्रीदुर्गासप्तशती)  is a translation from Sanskrit as well as an elaboration of an Indian allegorical sacred text श्रीदुर्गासप्तशती  or Seven Hundred Stanzas on Goddess Durga.

It is the second after the Bhagavad Gita holy song of India. Chanted by millions of Indians during the Navaratri festival celebrated all over India when for nine days nine forms of the Goddess are worshipped in temporary temples erected for this purpose.

The Action of Durga Saptashati, likewise the Bhagavad Gita, takes place on the battlefield. In this emotional tale Goddess Durga fights with demons. The story is an extended allegory of the internal struggle on his spiritual journey with the demons of pride etc. and defeating them by the Divine power in the Universe.

In this beautiful metric translation the Author has masterly transferred the content, mood and rhythm of the Sanskrit original. The extensive introduction explains the religious practices associated with the recitation of the text. The elaboration itself is based on Indian books written in Hindi and Sanskrit and contains the explanation of some aspects associated with the worship of the Goddess.
